Welcome to idreamCAKES.com!
In an effort to prevent this “BIO” section from turning into something like an obituary, I will try to keep this light and just the facts 🙂
My name is Alicia Wilcox, and I am tremendously blessed to be a wife and mother of 1 girl and 3 boys (Lord give me strength for today!) Becoming a mother is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever experienced. These children opened a part of my heart with such an overwhelming love that I sometimes look at them and can’t help but get a bit teary. Totally adorable!
Art, design, and theater are interests that have shaped who I’ve become. I attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND, for interior design from 2000-2004 but did not complete this degree. Leaving school, I began my sales career at a furniture store in Fargo up until I married my amazing husband! Then we moved to Sioux Falls, SD and worked in a few design firms before taking a position at a new Lowe’s location that hadn’t opened yet as a Kitchen Design Specialist. I absolutely loved being able to design and create something beautiful for my clients!
An injury moved us to Rochester, MN, and 18 months later I was healed and back looking for work and joined the HOM Furniture sales team. Somewhere in here, my precious one and only daughter turned 2, and I attempted my first decorated cake (since high school) for her birthday. This was the VERY first time using a piping bag to decorate using an open star tip and I used a Wilton fish novelty pan to create a replica of her super fave movie, Finding Nemo 🙂
March 2008 // “NEMO CAKE” // My first decorated cake.
While living in Rochester, MN, we found amazing friends and a great church family! When our daughter was 4, we moved…again.. to West Salem, WI, just 7 miles from La Crosse, where my husband began a new accounting job at a credit union.
Wisconsin is probably one of the most beautiful places to live, with its bluffs, valleys, and trees galore….. love love love.
Our friends became family 🙂
Wonderful memories were made here. My first son was born here. And then….I became pregnant with babe #3!!!! My husband began looking for work in Western Minnesota, near my parents, as these boys are 17 months apart. Yowza! Help please!
The Lord quickly opened a door for us to live 12 miles from my parents. So we did what anyone would do. We moved, our now family of five, 313 miles west when Lil’ Leland was just 7…days…old… Crazy.
Fast forward two years 🙂 I am a 33 year old stay-at-home wife, mom, homeschool teacher to a 3rd grader, singer on our church’s worship team, and have created this label for the cakes I make, now called idreamCAKES. Living in my old stomping grounds, I was welcomed home and soon friends and friends-of-friends started seeing the cakes I’ve made for my own children and began asking me to make cakes for their special occasions. ABSOLUTELY!!! Things have snowballed since our arrival just 2 years ago and now my little, local idreamCAKES Facebook page (Click HERE and “LIKE” my page!) has grown to 494 Likes and I’ve had referrals come as far as an hour away to receive a cake! I.am.so.blessed by God!
I hope and pray this blog will encourage and inspire you to create something beautiful while sharing my latest cake creations with you! 🙂
